Living with other people can tell us a lot about ourselves. You may notice annoying traits in yourself, such as playing music late at night or keeping the toilet seat up all the time, and adjust your behavior to be polite to your roommates. But you might also learn that moving is the best course of action if you’re much more self-aware than the people you share your apartment with and want clean dishes and shiny bathrooms.
