Guy cracks the code and gets his money back by viciously following the store’s refund policy
We’ve probably shopped at big box stores more than once, and unfortunately we’re all too familiar with these incredibly confusing rules. Especially when it comes to refunds. Well, you know, “We reserve all rights to return items that don’t fit, but only on the last 4th of every month in a leap year, the Moon must be in the sign of Aquarius…” Unfortunately, no refunds are given if…
Sounds a little familiar, right? Probably so.Perhaps that’s why resourceful customers love these stories so much about how they figured out the store’s complicated policies, found loopholes, and achieved full refunds. is as User u/dubilendar.
The author once bought a lot of goods at a big store somewhere in Europe.

When the guy tried to get a refund for some of them, he realized he could only get redeemable vouchers due to the store’s refund policy

So the inventor just bought something with that voucher and in pure soul demanded a well-deserved refund in cash
So, according to the original poster (OP), this story once happened in a large store in some European country. It turned out that some of the items I bought were already at home, so my wife requested that they be returned to the store.
But there the customer had to face a problem. According to store policy, as the manager said, he left the store with the goods and is now not entitled to the money. Only a redeemable voucher for the store where he can buy something else there. But our hero didn’t need a voucher. I needed the money.
Anyone else in the author’s shoes would have given up or started a futile altercation with the store staff, but to the original poster’s credit, he did something else. I received a voucher and used it to purchase other products for the same amount. And without leaving the store to comply with the rules, I went straight to the returns department.
To the shocked employee in the returns department, OP states that he wants to return the newly purchased product immediately. And since he didn’t leave the store with it, the rules were perfectly followed and they were obliged to return the full amount to him in cash. She was smiling like she was. Thus, ordinary human ingenuity once again defeated the soulless corporate machines.

There are actually two different points of view in this situation. On the one hand, stores often introduce complex and confusing refund policies aimed at encouraging us, the customers, to buy more at the same place. There are also situations, where problems arise.
“To prevent refund abuse, you must have sufficient authority to decline refund requests. ” says the Tranzzo payment system Recommended on the official website“None of these documents are required by law, but they provide a shield against unscrupulous consumers. We can save you from loss.”
Unfortunately, systems intended to combat fraudsters often hit perfectly conscientious customers who want to return unwanted items and get their money back. We must remember that the law is on our side. Or just do yourself a favor. In this case, perhaps such a wonderful story will be born.
Really great – at least most people commenting on the original post were impressed with the author’s poise and wit. I couldn’t come up with a great idea. “Behold, a malicious master of compliance!” claimed an enthusiastic commentator. By the way, if the same thing happened to you too, especially if you came out of this case pure triumphant, feel free to share your own story in the comments.
