Kim Kardashian’s Chelsea Cut
Jack Merrick-Thirlway, creative director at Neville Hair & Beauty, created the Chelsea cut to bridge the gap between the ever-popular bob and more play-it-safe long hairstyles. We’ve all sat in the hairdresser’s hot seat and been told that centimeters need to be removed from the hair we’ve grown for years to tackle our split ends – and we’ve all dreaded a pixie cut as a result. This is exactly where the Chelsea cut comes in: It’s the ideal haircut for damaged ends because it will banish split ends but retain some length, body and movement.
“The Chelsea cut is classic, elegant and timeless,” said Jack. “It suits anyone who has hair longer than shoulder length. It frames the face, and the style is soft and gives lots of movement because the layers start shorter around the face and get longer towards the back, which allows us to keep the weight at the bottom but give bounce and texture throughout.”
Chelsea Cut
The best way to style the Chelsea cut is to rough dry your hair first and then add some blow drying lotion (like Loreal Pli) before taking a big round brush to it (we love the Neville Hair brush). Use your large brush to blow dry the hair in sections, then place the hair in medium Velcro rollers to set the style. Leave the rollers on for ten minutes until they cool and finish with some soft hairspray.
Need some inspo? Kim Kardashian fights for style – and does it with awareness. Last week, Kim’s go-to hairdresser Chris Appleton revealed that the star has a short new haircut. “How about the shorter hair and Kim in Milan,” he captioned the photo, which showed off Kim’s voluminous Chelsea cut.
