Robin argues that the knitting process and products can become “outward expressions of attitudes, feelings, and aspirations long before they are verbalized.” When we’re working on a creative project, we need to be comfortable with what we have inside and work with the most controversial person: ourselves.
“I have experienced and described knitting as a performance art, a positive affection, and an expression of strongly held values,” said Robin, describing the craft as follows: means of understanding the world“When I look back on my adventures with thread and needles, I feel like I’ve knitted my life into one piece of cloth,” she continues.
“When we knit, we make a row of loops, then another row on top of it, and so on until the garment is finished. Loop to stack them on top of each other, create links, make occasional sharp turns, start fresh, sew it onto the section you already have, and continue to the end.
