For us, Christmas is about giving our loved ones the love and attention they deserve. Humans are very social creatures and acts of kindness are our bread and butter. It is the glue that holds us all together. Without altruism and self-sacrifice, there would be no civilization as we know it. And without the gift of showing how much we care, building trust is much more difficult.
Bored Panda asked author and happiness expert Ariane for her thoughts on how to focus on the things that really matter in life. , I was interested in getting her to understand how we can remember to show how much we love our closest and dearest people.
“It’s hard because it often interferes with my life, but I try to do something good for my daughter every week,” she said. “How to be happy” Opened in Bored Panda. Some of the little kind things she does are buying her daughter her favorite chocolates and leaving her a nice message on her message board.

It’s not the physical gift itself that matters, but the intention and emotion behind the gift.
“It doesn’t have to be an extravagant gift or gesture. Something as small as a kind note can lift their spirits. Also, pay attention to what they say and do and ask them about it.” How was the concert?” or “Auntie feeling better?” Ariane said our time and attention was invaluable. They matter, not the price tag or the wrapping paper.
I also wanted to understand why people give gifts. The writer Ariane was kind enough to explain this for us.
“This is a physical demonstration of our love, and it shows that we care about them. But again, gifts don’t have to be expensive. You can give the gift of hard work.
“So you can make cards and photo books, or stuff happy memories and love scraps of paper into jars. It means more,” she explained, explaining what you can do if you feel like you can’t come up with original ideas for good gifts.
Finally, Bored Panda asked Ariane how to start learning how to be kind and philanthropic if you don’t know where to start.
“Like Ebenezer Scrooge? I think it takes three ghosts to visit you on Christmas Eve!” She sarcastically added that it’s best to take small steps.
“Maybe start with cards and move on to gifts and gestures. But one of the greatest gifts you can give is to truly listen to people. Just give them your time.” author of “How to be happy” Said.
“Why don’t you invite them over and have a pot of their favorite tea and biscuits for a catch-up? And if they invite you over to their house, they’ll love it.” Please bring a thoughtful gift that will be appreciated,” Ariane said, allowing us to lay the foundation for a long-term and solid relationship.
Earlier, Bored spoke with priest and psychologist Dr. Fraser Watts. about the spirit of giving.
He explained that if we receive a gift that we’re not completely satisfied with, we have to imagine how our loved ones would have felt choosing or making it. We need to value their efforts, not their stuff.
Meanwhile, in a previous interview, Vanessa King, director of psychology at Action for Happiness, told Bored Panda that people keep themselves happy when they go out of their way to help others. Told.
Moreover, altruism has an evolutionary basis. When we eat others in kindness, we build trust and maintain social relationships with other members of the group. “When you do something for someone, the reward centers in your brain are activated, so when you give a gift, you feel the same as when you receive it,” she explained. .
as recently highlighted At Bored Panda, gifts are not essential to a happy and healthy relationship. However, if you are with someone who really cares about them, you can use the act of gift giving as a way to show that you care about them and understand their values.
Much more important than all of this, however, is making sure the people you care about feel loved, understood, appreciated, wanted, and respected.
