My second job was working as a barista at Starbucks in high school, which I loved at the time. Customers may ask questions, be unsure of what they want to order, or complain if their expectations were slightly off after receiving their drinks. It also helps you stay calm under pressure if you want to be a successful barista. Drinks can only be made immediately, so some people always have to wait. Move efficiently, but don’t make mistakes or pressure customers to move so fast that they endanger someone’s safety. Dropping a drink on the floor or getting burned doesn’t help anyone.
If you’re a Starbucks customer, there are a few things you can do to make your barista’s job easier. As Keicha mentioned, knowing what you want before you order makes the process run more smoothly and using common sense and manners goes a long way. Ask honestly. If you receive excellent service, be sure to tip. And if you’re too lazy to order in person, you can always pre-order drinks and food on the app. You pay and wait when you arrive, so you don’t have to worry about long lines or choking.
