People approve this homeowner’s decision online to walk away from conflict with tenants by selling their home
We are always taught to be kind, courteous, and considerate of others. It’s often said that you can’t be too kind, but when you’re dealing with people in your life, you realize it’s true.
An example of this is an article posted on Reddit by a user named Historical-Joke9732. He rented the house to his acquaintances at a low price, but when his landlord moved out, the tenant boldly requested an empty room. So the homeowner has just sold the house and the new rent is no longer a concern.

The original poster (OP) bought a house in a high cost of living city and is still paying the mortgage. With a good location near the university, there is no shortage of tenants.
In the past, homeowners lived in suites in the basement with not only bedrooms, but living rooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.Upstairs, four people lived, a couple in the master bedroom and two singles. I was there.
In October, OP found out that they were going to get a job in another city and in the new year, so he talked to the couple and offered them a basement. They agreed on a price, which meant their old bedroom would be emptied.
The author of the story owns a large house, lives in a suite in the basement, and shares the second floor with a couple and two bachelors.

It was the master bedroom so before I started looking for another tenant I asked if any of the singles wanted it. I was interested in turning it into an office.
This wasn’t a problem, but the tenants would use that room, so they would have to pay for it, and it didn’t work out. According to their calculations, they can get more money from the couple, so it was fair to give them the room for free, as the OP would not suffer a loss.
Tennant dared negotiate with OP as he was a friend of OP’s friend and was friendly, though not intimate. However, the homeowner was already demanding a lower rent than the market price and had no intention of giving up the room for free.
Homeowners moved to another city to get job offers, so they offered basement suites to couples and rooms to singles.

The landlord and tenant were unable to come to an agreement, so the friends found out about the conflict and got mad at the OP, accusing him of being greedy.
The situation seemed stressful and not worth the time and energy invested, so the OP sold the house on all leases, allowing the new owner to set the rent and who could have a spare room. Let us decide what to do.
Homeowners weren’t used to interacting with tenants, but they were sorry that roommates had to pay more rent or move far away, prolonging their commutes. The OP knew they were making life more complicated for friends of friends, but people in the comments believed they made a wise decision.
The couple agreed to move into the basement, but none of the singles wanted a spare bedroom. They were thinking of turning it into an office.

First of all, they were moving to another city, so they would have had to pay someone to take care of the house. I believed I deserved it. Already paying less than strangers would pay for what they were renting.
This is most likely the problem. Be cautious when borrowing from someone you know or introduced by someone you know. Compass Property Management Borrowing from someone you trust may seem like a good plan, but it’s up to your friends.
The company defines the benefits of having a friend, family member or acquaintance as a tenant: Follow the rules. Your friends may be more flexible about entering your home for inspections and repairs than residents you are not friends with. ”
Homeowners didn’t care until renters said they weren’t going to pay more, even though the rent was already below market value.

But there are reasons why people are wary of mixing business with friendships or involving money in friendships. Compass Property Management explains: ”
As we’ve seen in the Redditor situation, it’s hard to negotiate with tenants you know. Because they may expect special treatment from you. Consistently violate the terms of your employment or lease agreement. It’s hard to chastise a friend as much as a random renter. ”
The homeowner’s tenants were referrals from friends and family, and they too thought it unfair to ask for more money for the bedrooms.

Dealing with this situation was tedious, so the author of the story simply sold the house and passed the tenants on to the next landlord.

It’s easy to see how a relationship can be ruined, and the friend who called him greedy and introduced Tennant is also upset because the OP took steps to protect himself. It has already happened to the homeowner in the story.
Do you think there was another way to resolve the situation? Since the OP was working anyway, wouldn’t it have been more expedient to leave the acquaintances and sell the house? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
