OP’s husband grew up saving all kinds of money, so stealing was never allowed, regardless of the price of the item.
Perhaps the 50 ct cream cheese mentioned on the redditor was someone’s weak spot that led to him stealing it from a colleague. But OP’s husband couldn’t stand it and HR was no help so he dealt with it himself.
After Bored Panda got in touch with InpatientComment9072, he passed our questions on to his husband. The latter told Bored Panda that the logic behind his actions was simple.Someone had stolen what he had bought with his hard-earned money, so he called the police. So the price of the stolen items didn’t matter.
The post’s author shared some details about her husband’s upbringing. This helped shape his views on such behavior. He grew up in extreme poverty on the outskirts of a small Brazilian town and was the eldest of three children. From his early childhood he had many responsibilities such as helping raise his brothers and picking up firewood for cooking as his family could not afford gas.
“As he grew up, despite all the difficulties, he was able to become a nursing technician and later enter college and become a nurse. He worked hard for his low income, so he values his hard-earned money,” OP said. “He doesn’t mind sharing it with those in need.” But he won’t accept being stolen, no matter how small. He also helps his mother with some bills, so every cent counts.”
i really respect him. He comes from a very humble background but still managed to get this far in his life I don’t think he would have accomplished half of what he did if I was in his position .
