Never use a coffee machine in a hotel room. Why Angela, you might ask. Because, apparently, some people like to use it as a urinal. So I don’t care how coffee addicted you are. Do not touch the coffee maker.
Don’t use the glasses they put in the bathroom. Look, a really nice glass of glass. Apparently housekeepers don’t have a lot of time to turn the room around and often just wipe it down with Windex. They don’t even wash them.
Always, always, always wear socks or slippers in your hotel room. So why? Because they never wash the floor.
Yes, that’s right. Floors are nasty, nasty. Whenever you ask for slippers, you’ll notice they’re not white.
Bring flip flops. Apparently it’s very common for people to only do number two in the shower.I think hygiene awareness will increase.
Check your bed for bedbugs. I stayed at the hotel once. Two weeks later, a large bed bug infestation made the news. Nothing went home with me. Oh my god, I was terrified! At the time, I was living in Minnesota. So I took everything I had and pushed it outside in the dead of winter. At minus 30 degrees, just about anything will be killed if you have enough time there. But yes, if you see something like a small black dot that could indicate something like bedbugs or feces from an egg, lift the corner of the bed. No need to go under the bed. Just pick up the corners. I haven’t seen any, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
Do not use ice buckets. Unless, of course, you have something like a plastic liner. People like to use them as spitting buckets and urinals, but also why? why? do you think i might be sick? Or maybe it’s a cultural thing. Maybe some people think it’s an indoor pot or something. But this is not Regency England.
