What the host did is, frankly, mind-boggling
Redditor u/cheapfriends-ta told the AITA subreddit that he was wrong for leaving his friend’s party incredibly quickly after finding out that they were actually charging drinks for an intimate fellowship gathering. The OP was confused as to why they did this in the first place. His one of his working theories is that they wanted to be cheap and take advantage of the people they controlled.
No matter how you slice this story, it simply feels strange Think of someone inviting you to their house and asking you to pay for a homemade drink. They are not raising money for charity. They didn’t ask guests to bring their own drinks. They are simply charging for what they pour. Sounds cheap.
In fact, I’ve never heard of anyone doing this. The closest we’ve come to this is when we’ve seen hosts ask people to join them when they’re all ordering pizza. You can expect the host to cover most all the bills. Everything is balanced in the long run.
