“Confirmed
Lady Jane Gray is a figure I mentioned before, but last year I made a modern version. We recently made a full YouTube video about her life and looks. Check it out at Royalty Now Studios (link in bio). I also wanted to recreate her from Streatham’s portrait, which is said to be the closest to her Jane. Nine of Her Day is still debated as being the true form of Her Queen, but is generally accepted as a rather poor copy of the lost original. It dates from about 40 years after Jane’s death and includes a description of “Mrs. Jane” and Jane’s dress appropriate to her time.

Lady Jane Gray was fourth in line to the throne when she was born around October 1537. Henry VIII and Jane Seymour had just welcomed a son, Edward, the same month, and apparently expected him to become the future king. I was raised as a ward. Catherine and Jane were united by a shared love of books, the Protestant faith, and learning. In 1553 Jane was arranged to marry Lord Dudley of Guildford, the son of Edward VI’s leader of the Council of Regency.

At the age of 15, King Edward fell ill. Edward drew up a document he called “a contrivance for the succession”, which had many amendments, but skipped both half-sisters Mary and Elizabeth after his death, leaving the 16-year-old Like Jane, Edward VI was a devout Protestant and wanted England to remain a Protestant nation. This put Jane in an incredibly dangerous position.

A reluctant and frightened Jane reigned only nine days before Mary I came to claim the throne.Jane and Guildford were soon arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London. On February 11, 1554, Lady Jane Gray was executed in the Tower of London.

Jane’s strength and unwavering faith at the end of her life made her a respectable figure, and she has been considered the Protestant Marty for centuries. ”
