Boss refuses model employee’s 25 cent pay raise, says he’s free to quit, viciously complies
Someone who recently worked in a small shop doing an electrical apprenticeship shared unusual story About the Malicious Compliance subreddit about how he quit that job.
According to the Redditor, not only was his boss not paying him enough for the work he asked for, but on one occasion he told him to lie to a customer. Evaluation time has come and the author’s last drop has been tested.
“My boss explains that he was not going to give me the 25-cent-an-hour raise that my contract said was due to a time when my business and the store were in a downturn,” the author said. He added that his boss had promised him an extra $1 when he became a journeyman. As you can imagine, this didn’t end well.
The boss refused a 25-cent hourly raise for this employee, telling him he was free to quit if he didn’t like it.
