another 2016 survey In a survey featuring social media users, less than one-third said they were always honest online, and up to 90% said they were more honest with others about their age, gender, activity, interests, and/or appearance. I suspected that people are sometimes unfaithful. Misleading others on the Internet seems to be the rule rather than the exception. But for some reason, social media sites like Facebook seem to be the most honest places online compared to dating sites and other online chat rooms.
“The reason is that these social media sites have the most connections with the outside world,” says Michelle Drouin, a professor of psychology at Indiana University Purdue-Fort Wayne and one of the authors of the study. Told. CBC News“For example, it’s much harder to lie about your gender or age if you’re sharing photos of yourself, photos of your family, and most importantly, your acquaintances.”
