88 winning photos of the 2022 Travel Photographer of the Year Awards
The winners of our annual Travel Photographer of the Year contest have been announced. Of the 20,000 submissions, a snapshot of one of her two northern white rhinos, the last remaining in the world, won the highest amount.
Judges captured by Matjaz Krivic were amazed at how he was able to tell the sad story of an animal’s existence trying to survive and hopefully revive a species from the brink of extinction. “Kenya tells this sad story beautifully and delicately. The images are tender and intimate,” said the contest judges.
Krivic is a documentary photographer with over 25 years of experience traveling the world capturing different stories of people and places. He is currently immersed in showing environmental issues and advocating for a better future.
The winning photo set wasn’t his first entry into the contest. According to Travel Photographer of the Year, the artist has attended every year since his 2003 inception.
