TikToker tries to normalize the decision not to have children by creating a ‘a day in the life’ series as a childless woman

In recent years, there has been a growing movement among women to advocate not having children.

Jackie Dives, a 39-year-old Vancouver-based photographer and artist, is one of them.

In addition to her creative work, Jackie uses social media to defuse tension and get the public talking about having (or not having) children.

Recently, another TikToker, Maelen S., turned to the platform and asked: [in your] Please tell us about the life of a woman in her 40s or older who (intentionally) never has children, or a woman who has a partner.”

And Jackie provided a candid answer, explaining why it’s important to talk about the subject

“I get yelled at a lot on TikTok for saying things like how a childless person does XYZ or a day in the life of a childless person. What’s the difference?” I do it because I want women like the one I sew to see what life is like without children.

“I am 39 years old and have no children. So I had to make a strong decision that I was willing to let go of my partner in exchange for a childless life.”

The woman even revealed that she ended the relationship because of her decision

“I loved my partner so much, and a lot of people said it was crazy to let him go as well as have a baby with him. I don’t want to be a parent myself.” I knew it in my heart and in my gut, but it was really hard for me to imagine what my life would be like after we broke up.”

“I knew what my life would be like if he and I were together. But the media and pop culture have never given an example of what a childless woman looks like, so if I don’t follow the path that everyone expects me to take, my I didn’t know what life would be like.I’m going down.
