A Redditor with the nickname u/Edymnion and bored panda We got in touch and recently shared a malicious compliance story from about 15 years ago. The OP has a story that it used to work (it still works, but they used to) was a computer programming company recently acquired by a state-owned company.

Once things calmed down, headquarters sent a “liaison” to the office to learn the tricks. [insert corporate talk about building bridges and whatnot]but in reality replacing them was a very thinly veiled endeavor. unhappy It’s also the perfect breeding ground for good old pranks that won’t hurt anyone. probably.

What the liaisons (and HQ for that matter) didn’t know was that it took a degree in computer science and about 12 months of hybrid boot camp to actually get the right job.this guy was here one week.

Needless to say, it didn’t work, but the OP admitted that the liaison tried his darling. bottom. And all his requests were fulfilled.

“Stop rage, no [he didn’t]give up yes [he did]A real programmer could have at least reported the complexity of the situation, but I doubt he could have provided anything particularly coherent,” OP elaborated.

“Even if he recorded everything we said, he couldn’t do anything for a non-programmer. Watching one episode of Bob Ross doesn’t make you a Renaissance painter.”

So I was told that very few people need to do something based on a template without being too geeky. It takes about 1,500 lines of code each time, which can realistically take months.

Anyway, the OP viciously followed the given context, cramming a year’s worth of knowledge into just one week. build a bridge The outcome changed as the liaison promised to give them a good word, but he still spilled the tea and said the new management really was going to replace them.

Well, fast forward, 15 years later, OP is still getting paid there. It took 5 years for the ‘inevitable revolving door at the upper echelon’ to make it happen user friendly They always seemed to want reality, but now there are more people managing the entire operation than there used to be.

The OP said the system that replaced the old one wasn’t quite as capable, so HQ kind of screwed up with that one, but it scales great, so there it is.
