Entitled Newlyweds Are Upset Fellow Air Travelers Denied Lodging Due To Lack Of Foresight When Reserving Airplane Seats
The question of swapping seats on an airplane has been hotly debated online for what seems like an eternity. I feel like most of us agree that everyone should stay in their chosen seat, but the horror story continues. ), his Redditor passing by u/scrapped85 We also have something to share!
The problem is that travelers despise aisle seats because of an elbow injury they once had. Additionally, they had many layovers and simply wanted to rest, but some newlyweds quickly sabotaged their plans.

“AITA: Refusal to change seats with newlyweds who want to sit together– This web user joined one of Reddit’s most critical communities, asking members if it was a silly move to refuse to swap seats with honeymooners they wanted to sit with. The post managed to garner almost 4,000 upvotes as well as 515 comments discussing the situation.
Everyone wants to feel comfortable while cruising the skies with flying objects at 33,000 to 42,000 feet. This is why seat selection exists. However, not many people are willing to spend extra money on an already expensive airline ticket.
Some stick to their choice and have no problem getting stuck in the middle seat, while others are willing to risk the comfort of their fellow passengers purely for their own sake. Does the author of the post have a story to tell?
Traveler began by saying he was inspired to write his own “AITA” post after reading a similar story on a subreddit. They felt like the true antagonists of the couple’s love story when they were on the plane, so they did this to determine if they were right or wrong.
The Redditor reserved a window seat and sat next to the man’s wife in the middle row. After all, the couple had just got married and wanted to sit together. They asked netizens if they could change seats, but they politely refused and explained several reasons. I said yes. They also claimed that it was his second and longest flight of the three he had taken that day and that he only wanted to doze off and relax. None of the reasons seemed sufficient, as another passenger called out and tried to persuade the author to give up his seat. Naturally, it caught people’s attention and made some scenes.
A Redditor later asked netizens to look into the matter because they felt like a “love story villain.”

Needless to say, the author of the post was unfazed, but felt like all the passengers around him, including the crew, were judging his decision. If is your honeymoon, that means you must have booked in advance, so the question remains – why didn’t the couple make sure they were seated together? or the trip may have been booked in haste. who knows. But one thing we can all probably conclude is that this issue was handled poorly.
The author then asked members of the subreddit a few questions, asking whether it was really wrong to refuse to swap seats or whether other passengers should accommodate people just because it’s a honeymoon. I wondered.
It’s a sensitive issue that seems to do a great job of getting people involved and it’s all very understandable. Think about how you could get someone else’s meal, perhaps because of a severe food allergy, when you do. No one can stop accepting it, but it complicates things.
what do you think about this? What would you do if you were the author?
