With thousands of hair products we see on the internet, it is difficult to decide what to choose. And even if we have one in mind, is it even the right product to use?
There are several aspects to consider initially. These include your hair characteristics and goals, lifestyle and budget.
Determine your hair type and texture, then understand what they need most.
Straight hair, for example, should look sleek and shiny for a sleeker finish. While wavy or curly locks look great when their natural bounce is maintained. So don’t choose any product that will weigh down its texture.
Your hair care routine should also be based on your life situation. Sweat-friendly products are available if you have a healthy and active lifestyle. Otherwise, you can choose the practical ones, depending on the humidity where you live.
Finally, it is crucial that you assess your overall budget. Salon products can be expensive, but there are safe brands that won’t break the bank.
To give you an overview, here is a list of experienced hair artists and an overview of their trusted products.
Darius Irani and Shana Irani
Darius and I both love, created and use our styling cream daily! I love its light scent. Darius has thick wavy hair (he’s Mexican, Persian and white) and I have curly hair (I’m filipino and white), we like that it holds our hair without the jelly cast look. haha. Does it make sense?
My favorite hair product right now is a combination of Olaplex No. 0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment & Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector. I like to use both before I shampoo as a pre shampoo treatment and instead of leaving it on for 10 minutes, I leave it on for 30 minutes under a shower cap before rinsing. The effect is immediate. It leaves my hair revitalized and my curls bouncy!
My favorite hair product right now is Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream. I love it because it’s packed with naturally moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, olive oil, and aloe vera juice. And it smells like a tropical fruit bowl! It enhances my natural curl pattern and adds shine. I like to put it under my gel for the perfect wash and go! It is best applied to wet or damp hair so that it can soak in and moisturize your curls thoroughly.
My favorite product right now is something I’ve been recommending to clients for 15 years because my number one priority is always hair health. I love the Unite 7 seconds detangler for a few reasons. First, it’s moisturizing and great for all hair types. It does not weigh down fine hair. Another thing I love about it is that it has a heat protectant and a UV protectant. It really is an all-in-one product that you should spray on your hair every time you wash your hair. After washing and conditioning as usual, towel dry your hair. Then spray the detangler mid-shaft through your ends before combing out.
My favorite hair care product at the moment is the Solid Shampoo Morte Súbita from the Brazilian vegan brand Lola Cosmetics. It is affordable, lasts more than 6-7 months and leaves my hair clean, soft and shiny. Together with a hair mask of the same brand, the results are beyond imagination. It’s always nice to know that beauty can be cruelty-free and at a very reasonable price.
At the moment my favorite hair product is Bumble and Bumbles Dry Spun Texture Spray! My hair is so fine and if I want it to hold any style I have to add texture! This spray does the trick for me!
This is one hair product I couldn’t live without! Dry shampoos are a must as they offer many uses that many don’t know about as they are not just for dirty, greasy hair.
– They help refresh your locks instantly
– Fight sweat, dirt and oils
– Remove odor
– Adds volume and texture to your hair
– And of course it can give you a few extra days when you don’t have to wash your hair. The key is to apply it right after washing, don’t wait until your hair is dirty.
If you want a brand, my favorite is Klorance Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. It is plant-based with an ultra-fine powder, so no white residue.
Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil is my favorite right now.
It is a light hair oil for summer. You can get all hair oil functions with it. As for me, I usually use 2 pumps on my shoulder length hair. Also, it doesn’t have a strong hair oil smell, which is my favorite part of hot weather.
I also prefer to use Kerastase Elixir Ultime L’Original Hair Oil in autumn and winter. It is a good choice for dry hair.
Also, a balanced diet is better than most hair growing shampoos and conditioners.
I love Cake The Curl Whip Mousse. My strands are fine and my hair is relatively low porosity, so it needs help from products with hold, but it’s still easy to weigh down. The cake curl whip mousse gives me enough hold to get a soft cast that I scratch out. Once I “unscrew the crunch”, my hair feels closer to product-free than I’ve felt from any other mousse or gel. I also love refreshing my hair with this mousse. I can add more of it to day 2 hair without rewetting my hair and it still won’t feel like “product”.
I love a good foam styler to quickly set curls and reduce drying time, and “The Doux – Mousse Def” is perfect! Hold but not crunchy, moisturizing (which is uncommon in mousse), smooth and shiny… it can be air dried, diffused or put under a hooded dryer. It is fantastic.
My favorite hair product right now is Unite 7 Seconds Detangler. It is the best detangler I have ever used. It takes care of tangles easily and leaves your hair super soft!
After I started bleaching my hair last year, I’ve been loving the pastel line in oVertone because it’s so mild you don’t have to worry about accidentally dying your forehead or ears LOL! I throw it on there, massage it in, leave it on for 20 minutes, wash it out, and enjoy the fun new color (and amazing conditioning of my hair) for a few weeks before trying a new color!
My current favorite hair product is the Hair Biology Thickening Treatment! My hair feels and looks fuller every time I use this product.
I use the ghd hot tool, but my current favorite and the one I use the most is Eva Nyc’s Healthy Heat Nano Silk Styling Iron.
For a styling product, I have several hairsprays that I rotate, and while I prefer a matte, brushable spray for everyday use, there is no strong hold hairspray that beats Got2b Glued. If I want it frozen in place, this is the spray for me! Whether I’m creating an intricate vintage look or fixing a custom wig into place, I always go for the giant yellow bottle. It’s also great when I have a sleeker updo because it keeps every loose baby hair or split end in place!
My favorite hair products are Tzikal Shampoo and conditioner Olaplex n7 bonding oil (after shower) small drops on my hands to work it through my ends. Marc Anthony or Philip B Maui Wowie Texturizing Beach Spray volumizing and thickening beach mist (perfect any time you want that natural beach wave). Spray on hair and hair and let it dry on its own.
My favorite hair product is Frobelle Naturale’s Moisture Enriching Hair Butter. It’s an all-in-one product that keeps my hair soft, moisturized and manageable.
My current favorite hair product is Olaplex no.9 – a silicone-free serum that provides style memory, heat protection and has a satin shiny finish. I love a styling product that doubles as a repair serum!
My favorite is Clairol Shimmer lights conditioner because it keeps my blonde hair bright and white (no brass). I use it once a week and leave it on for at least a few minutes before washing it off.
Dani Marie Krum
My favorite hair product at the moment is Dae Shampoo and Conditioners! I love how silky they leave my hair without feeling greasy. They have also helped my extensions last so much longer. It’s something I couldn’t live without!
