According to a common definition, chivalry is “a combination of the qualities expected of an ideal knight, especially courage, honor, courtesy, justice, and readiness to help the weak”.
The term is usually associated with medieval knightly orders, where the behavior of knights and gentlemen was governed by chivalrous social norms. ” But today we understand chivalry as courtesy and tenderness towards women.
From waiting for the woman to sit before the man does to helping her get through the door first with the coat, small acts do wonders. That said, in a world that prioritizes gender equality above all else, whether chivalry is still relevant today is a matter of debate.
